SHADES OF THE SEASON
Whether it’s cool or warm tones your after, the colours are rich, vibrant and bright.
Soften the colour palette this spring season and use the budding blossoms of nature as inspiration. Whether it’s rich and striking brunettes, icy blondes or fiery reds, the look is all about subtlety. Colours blend and smudge into each other, with soft, curved placements. Keeping in mind the blending of colours, vibrant deep reds and coppery auburns, rich browns and platinum blondes as the upcoming trends. There will be subtle highlights to give some dimension, but colour will be more solid and shiny. Take out the dark brown and lift the shade to a warmer golden brown or add a few highlights around the face to brighten them up. Make blondes a little brighter and pale with some additional highlights to start the summer. Whether it’s warmer browns or cooler blondes, use a mix of blondes and brunettes to create natural, but wow colours.
Some colourists have embraced the differences in wood as their inspiration. Hair is similar to wood in that there are so many variations in the fiber. Think of the age-old art form of wood staining and apply it to hair. Mahogany, the wood most favoured by nobility for its rich colour and exceptional texture is an excellent comparison. Mahogany bases are perfect for spring, in cool mahoganies, nuances of a blushy pink undertone inspires a softer side of cool and in warm mahoganies; there is a perfect balance between gold and rose tones.
If you desire a lighter look, opt for the lightest shades of blonde. Blonding is always in style, so create the lightest, richest family of blondes, perfect for spring. To update a look and refresh previously coloured winter blonde, mix different blonde shades such as iridescent, beige and warm tones to create a beautiful and subtle blend of colours.
You should always see a professional stylist to achieve the best possible colour results for you hair or come into the Academy of Hair Design for your new look.
