Ginnie received her Hairstyling Diploma from the Academy of Hair Design in May 2003. She worked at Regis Salon and First Choice Haircutters before returning to the Academy as their Receptionist in 2004.

Ginnie's long term goal has always been to be a Hairstyling Instructor. She took the opportunity to return to the Academy to acquire the necessary experience and education, including adult education classes from the NBACC and CANB, to accomplish her goal. Since being at the Academy she has met lots of wonderful people and looks forward to working with the students in the future.

Instructors

Mrs. Bennett has been in the cosmetology industry for 33 years. She has taught hairstyling for 22 years, 17 of them at the Academy of Hair Design.

Her involvement within the industry includes 10 years of service on the Board of Directors of the Hairdressers Association and Interim President and Past President of the Cosmetology Association.

Graduating from D'Lor Beauty School in 1977 she has continued her education attending Redken, Matrix, Schwarzhopf and personal advanced classes, as well as obtaining certificates in adult education from the NBACC, CANB and UNB.

When asked why she loves to teach, her reply is: "My greatest reward is helping students achieve their dream of being the best hairstylist they can be."

Mrs. Steele has been in the Hairstyling Industry for 40 years and has been on our team since 1995. She brings with her a desire to give back to the students as much as she can in knowledge, ability and love for the industry.

Mrs. Steele graduated from Vocational School in 1969. She worked in many salons and Barber shops over the years. She then owned her own salon for a number of years. Mrs. Steele has attended numerous training courses in advanced cutting, perming and coloring. Along with the technical aspect Mrs. Steele has had many pedagogical training courses, including a five level NBACC adult training program.

Always easy going, pleasant and willing to go the extra mile for the students she imparts her gentle ways to get the most out of every one of the students that attend the Academy.

Ms Penny joined our team in 2008 with over 30 years of experience in our industry and a desire to share her love for it with the students.

She graduated from Cosmetology in 1979 and became certified in June 1980. She received her Instructors license in 1987 and has used it to supply teach around the province and do educational classes for the CANB/NBHA.

In 1989 Ms Penny joined the Master Judges program and received her Silver Medal in 1994, Gold in 1998 and her Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002.

Ms Penny holds many advanced education certificates; some include cutting courses from Toni and Guy, The Jingles, Cecilia Leatherberry and Adult Education from NBACC, CANB and UNB.

Ms Penny got involved with the CANB in the 80's to make changes. She was Chair of the Examining and Licensing Committee for a number of years, President for 8 years and Provincial Examiner for 15 years. She has been very instrumental in many of the changes for students in Cosmetology.
