Trimming Makes Hair Grow Faster

One of the most common hair care myths is the persistent belief that trimming causes hair to grow faster and thicker. In short, there is no truth in this practice. Trimming, cutting, or shaving your hair may appear to make hair grow faster, but the effect is merely an illusion. Trimming bangs, spit ends, or shaggy locks often cause hair to appear healthier; which is likely the reason people mistakenly believe their hair is growing faster.

The rate at which your hair grows is determined largely by genetics, but there are things you can do to help your hair grow at its best. Your best bet is to eat a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and to make sure you eat plenty of protein. Good sources of protein include eggs, fish, and other lean meats.

Cooperative Education

The Academy of Hair Design works together with School District 8 and 6 to place students in their Cooperative Education Program here at our Academy.

During your seven weeks of coop with the Academy you will get to work hands on with mannequins learning how to do several types of braids, roller sets, perm winds, finger waves, up-do’s, blow drying and curling iron sets etc., as well as working on a project that could involve designing a salon or a portfolio of hair designs and colors.

This hands-on experience will help you decide if hairstyling is the career for you. The remainder of your coop will be spent in another location that you choose. Check with your coop teacher to arrange placement at the Academy, we can accommodate morning or afternoon students.
